Abstract
780,978. Woven packing material. BRITISH BELTING & ASBESTOS, Ltd. May 17, 1955 [April 6, 1954], No. 10062/54. Clas 142(4) A woven fabric packing or lagging has a region or regions 2 with warp threads omitted to facilitate the insertion of bolts when the fabric is used between two members bolted together. Threads 3 may be used to retain the warp threads in parts A, B; the threads 3 may be thermoplastic and may be fused. The fabric may be coated and/or impregnated with a binder. It may be made as a tape or as a sheet and subsequently cut into strips, the binder preventing fraying of the edges. The threads may be organic or inorganic and may be of a textile fibre or a mixture of textile fibres reinforced with a metal wire or filament. Organic fibres may be natural or synthetic. The threads may be of asbestos, copper, glass, or mineral wool. The warp may be of 3/24's asbestos yarn, 35 threads to the inch, and the weft may be 2/24's asbestos yarn at 10 threads to the inch.
