Abstract
980, 288. Foudrinier screen; yarns and threads. A. KUFFERATH. Feb. 8, 1962 [Feb. 10,1961], No. 4866/62. Headings D1K and D1W. A Foudrinier screen is woven from warp, or both warp and weft, of monofils that are wider than they are thick. The filaments may be flat with rounded edges or may have a longitudinal groove in one or each face; they may be made from two round filaments welded together side-by-side. To assist drainage of water from the pulp, the filaments may have grooves at right angles to their axis or oblique as shown at 22. The ends of the warp filaments are disposed so as to meet along a line running obliquely across the fabric, insertion of the weft then making the fabric endless.
