A tool for wrapping the end of a wire conductor around a terminal tag and having a bit arranged on rotation to wrap the wire around the tag has a continuously rotating flexible drive extending through the handle of the tool arranged to be clutched by manual operation of a trigger device to a rotatable shaft to which the wrapping bit is secured. A shaft 15, rotatable in a shell 11 of the tool, has secured at one end a spindle 28 having an axial hole 31 in its outer end to accommodate a terminal tag to be wound and a longitudinal peripheral slot 30 to accommodate the end of the wire to be wrapped around the tag. A tubular barrel 29 secured to the shell 11 surrounds the spindle 28. The other end of the shaft 15 carries a chamfered rubber annulus 20, the inner end of a spiral spring 22 and a helical cam face formed with a stop 24 and engaged by a spring-urged pin 25. A pivoted arm 46 carries, journalled therein, a coupling member 43 secured to a rotating flexible drive cable 39 passing, in a sheath 40, through a handle 10 of the tool. The coupling 43 is chamfered and, when a pivoted trigger 48 is squeezed to lift the arm 46, engages the annulus 20 on the shaft 15. This rotates the shaft 15 to wind the wire around the tag and also causes the spring 22 to tighten on the shaft 15 until its outer end slides in a channel 23, the pin 25 riding freely over the cam. When the trigger is released the drive to the shaft 15 through the members 43 and 20 is disconnected and the spring 22 rotates the shaft 15 in the reverse direction until the stop 24 is engaged by the pin 25, thus to position the shaft. In a modified form of bit 60, Fig. 3, secured to the shaft 15, a flat tag 62 with slotted edges 66 is inserted in an axial cavity 61 in the bit 60 and the connecting wire is laid through a hole 63 in the cavity wall to lie in a longitudinal peripheral groove 64, said groove being closed externally by a sleeve 65 fixed around the bit 60.
