Abstract

An apparatus for maturing beer by removing gases therefrom (see Group VI) comprises a cylindrical chamber (1) provided with an atomizing disc (10) and a device (5) emitting waves in a frequency range between that of the ultrasonic waves and ultra-violet rays arranged so as to irradiate the atomized beer. The numerals relate to the Figure which shows a preferred embodiment. The device 5 may emit ultraviolet or infra-red rays which may, if desired, be filtered from visible rays by means of filter 11 and a super-sonic device may, in addition, be mounted on the side wall. Valves 2 and 12 are provided for the withdrawal of beer and gases respectively, but it is stated that high pressure may be used. <PICT:0780613/III/1>
