Abstract
780,397. Singeing fabric. SCHLANGEN, A., [formerly OSTHOFF [nee NIGGEMANN], A.]. Oct. 28, 1955 [Dec. 8, 1954], No. 30971/55. Class 42 (1). Apparatus for trimming woven fabric comprises a singeing machine having burners 4, 10 disposed to singe fluff from one or both surfaces of a fabric web 2 when the latter is passed through the machine, and having additional laterally arranged burners 16 positioned to burn off weft thread remnants from the selvedges of the fabric web. Burners 16 are adjustable on spindles 20, 21 transversely of the fabric web and can also be adjusted obliquely to the selvedges. By passing the fabric over rollers 5, 11, 9 and 12, both surfaces of the fabric are singed by burners 4, 10; by passing it over rollers 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12, one side only is singed twice.
