Abstract

779,117. Spring-drum apparatus. LEWYT CORPORATION. Jan. 27, 1956 [Feb. 1, 1955], No. 2772/56. Class 78 (2). [Also in Group XXVIII] A take-up reel for the electric cable 46, Fig. 3, of a suction cleaner of the canister type (see Group XXVIII) is rotatably mounted on a vertical stud 51 within a casing 41 on the cleaner cover 22 and has an internal return coil spring 48 one end of which is secured to the drum and the other to a hub 50. The reel is normally held against rotation by the spring 48 by a roller 60, Fig. 2, projecting from a bell-crank lever 58 and abutting the flanged ends of discs 47 between which the cable 46 is wound. Disengagement of the roller 60 is effected by angular displacement of the lever 58 about its pivot 59 on depressing a button 62, Fig. 6 (not shown), having a lever engaging conical base 65,
