Abstract

778,913. Levels. PYNFORD, Ltd. May 26, 1955 [Feb. 26, 1954], No. 5780/54. Class 97(2) [Also in Group X] Apparatus for levelling building structures damaged by subsidence comprises jacks A<SP>3</SP>, Fig. 1 each driven by an electric motor controlled by electric control devices comprising a relay controlled 'by a contact floating on liquid as described in Specification 770,900 [Group XXXVII], the control devices being mounted on the corresponding part of the wall being raised and the liquid in the control devices being connected by tubes W, Fig. 2, with the liquid in containers E. the levels of liquid in which are gradually raised by the raising of a lever F<SP>2</SP> pivoted at F<SP>3</SP> so that the jacks raise the building in accordance with the movement of the lever F<SP>2</SP>. Each jack control is connected to the appropriate container E along the lever F<SP>2</SP> according to the amount of lift each jack is required to carry out. The lever F<SP>2</SP> is raised by a screwed shaft F<SP>3</SP> driven by an electric motor. Each container has an overflow tube F having an overflow orifice to maintain the level of the liquid which is constantly replenished by a tube F<SP>6</SP>. The float of the electrical control device may be replaced by other movable contact means such as a mechanically or electrically driven contact the movement of which is appropriately interrelated with that of the other jack control means.
