Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid discontinuity of further driving due to fuel shortage by changing display systems in response to the magnitude of the remaining fuel quantity in a fuel tank of a vehicle and accurately displaying the remaining fuel. CONSTITUTION:The output from a liquid level sensor 100 having a float 101 which is floated on the surface of the fuel 2 in the fuel tank 1 in the vehicle is outputted to an A/D converter 200. In the liquid level sensor 100, a potentiometer is formed by a sliding piece 103 and a resistor 104, a constant voltage power source is connected to a terminal a, and a value corresponding to the position of the float 101 is outputted to a terminal b. A remaining fuel computing circuit 300 receives the output of the A/D converter 200, converts it to display data, drives a display 400, and displays the data in ten steps from a full tank by lamps. When the remaining quantity becomes 10l or less, a switch 600 is depressed to expand the display scale and the ten step display in unit 1l is performed. Thus, the small amount of the remaining fuel is accurately displayed, and the discontinuity of further driving due to the fuel shortage is avoided.
