Abstract

An elastic impression composition suitable for the reproduction of articles having complicated structures particularly of jaws and teeth comprises an alkali metal salt of triglycolamidic acid, preferably the sodium or potassium salt, as a retarding agent for the composition which is solidified by reaction of an alginate or pectate with a metal salt. A carbodiimide is also preferably added. In Examples, in addition to sodium alginate the compositions consist of: (1) lead silicate, sodium silicofluoride, the sodium salt of triglycolamidic acid, kieselguhr, heavy spar, and bolus alba. (2) Zinc carbodiimide, potassium-titanium fluoride, the potassium salt of triglycolamidic acid, heavy spar, and kieselguhr, and (3) Lead carbodiimide, sodium silicofluoride, the disodium salt of triglycolamidic acid, bolus alba, heavy spar and titanium dioxide.
