Abstract
777,757. Colour television tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 18, 1955 [Feb. 23, 1954], No. 4921/55. Class 39(1). Distortion of an extreme wire of the deflection grids of a cathode ray tube is eliminated by providing a rigid conductive part which is connected electrically to the wire next adjacent the extreme wire. In Fig. 2 the wires of two grids are secured to conductive strips 10, 11, 12 and 13 and are arranged alternatively all in the same plane. Thick wires 20, 21 are secured to strips 10, 12 adjacent extreme grid wires 18, 19 and do not themselves distort under electrical stress and compensate the stress on grid wires 18, 19 arising from the adjacent wires of the other grid. The wires secured to strips 10, 12 are coated with insulation at the area where they pass over strips 11, 13. The wires 20, 21 may be replaced by strips forming the sides of a frame, Figs. 3, 5 (not shown). Fig. 6 shows the arrangement when the extreme wires 31, 32 are not of the same grid, one support of each grid being a bent arm 28, 30.
