Abstract
777,607. Jaw crushers. FISONS, Ltd. Nov. 18, 1955 [Nov. 24, 1954], No. 34018/54. Class 59 Apparatus for treating caked fertilizers and the like contained in sacks comprises an inclined table 1 for supplying- sacks of material to a pair of jaws 2, 3 which are rapidly opened and closed so as to compress portions of a sack successively, the compressed and decaked portions of the sack passing through the the jaws. The jaws are moved by means of toggle arms 4, 5 actuated by a crank 7 and connecting rod 6. The jaws are mounted on arms movable about a pivot 8 mounted on a pivoted arm 9 influenced by a spring 11. When the toggle arms are very nearly at dead centre, a slotted arm 12 engages a stop 13. Any further movement of the toggle arms is then constrained and the pivot 8 is forced forward tensioning the spring 11. The jaws therefore move forward and also have a slight upward movement which is limited by a stop 14. During this forward movement of the jaws, the sack is compressed and carried forward. On the return stroke, the jaws are released from the sack and at the same time are drawn back by the spring 11, the downward movement of the jaws being limited by a stop 15. The forward movement of the jaws is adjustable by means of a screwed rod 16 moving a bar 17.
