Abstract
An indirectly-heated cathode for electron-discharge apparatus comprises a barium-containing alkaline earth oxide coating on a core of Ni-Mn alloy containing more than 0.15 per cent but not more than 1.0 per cent by weight of Mn. The alloy may also contain one or more of the following elements Mg 0.01-0.1 per cent, Si 0.05-0.1 per cent, C less than 0.08 per cent, S less than 0.005 per cent, Cu less than 0.1 per cent, Co less than 1.0 per cent and Fe less than 0.2 per cent.
