Tension springs 4a are connected to a seat or mattress frame 1 by plates 2a with integral upstanding curved projections provided with a continuous lip 3. A plurality of projections may be provided on each plate for use along the sides of a frame or at corners where edge springs are to be used. Connectors 6 with similar projections may be used to interlink springs to form a network. The springs are preferably provided with a covering.
