Abstract

776,250. Anchor-bolts. BAYLISS, JONES & BAYLISS, Ltd. Oct. 8, 1954 [Oct. 8, 1953; July 27, 1954], Nos. 27728/53 and 29009/54. Divided out of 776,252. Class 89 (1). An expansible anchor-bolt, e.g. for mine roofs, comprises a sleeve-like member 11, Fig. 1, having longitudinal slits 17 extending from one end, and a bolt 12 having wedgeshaped fins 22 at its head end which enter the slits to expand member 11 to grip the wall of bore 10, Fig. 5. Sleeve 11 is preferably cylindrical and may be constructed in the manner and by the method described in Specification 776,252, or may be made as half-shells 21 connected together at end 20. The larger end of the head is shaped to be accommodated within the circumference of member 11 before expansion, and the ends 26 of the fins are blunted so that they do not dig into the sleeve-end 20 when the bolt is fully expanded.
