776,168. Pipe couplings. MATHESON, N. Oct. 5, 1955 [July 26, 1954], No. 21718/54. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXIV] The shoulders c, d on the adjacent ends of drill pipes a, b, which are interconnected by dowel pins e or serrations, not shown, to enable torque to be transmitted therebetween, are, when drawn together, of frusto-conical section, a two-part bolted clamp g holding the shoulders in contact. A seal of rubber or similar material may be interposed in grooves between the pipes. According to the Provisional Specification the two parts of the clamp may be hinged together at one end whilst the' other ends are secured by a hinged bolt or a latch.
