Abstract
775,688. Knitting. BELMONT THROWING CORPORATION. Aug. 4, 1954, No. 22628/54. Class 74 (2). [Also in Group IX] A knitted fabric, e.g. a patterned elastic stocking, has areas knitted of differently coloured polyamide or polyester yarns, each yarn being formed from two loosely intertwisted, e.g. multifilament, strands, after twisting each strand (but in opposite direction) a plurality of turns, setting, dyeing, twisting an additional plurality of turns in the same direction, setting and shrinking, then, (if desired), imparting additional twist, followed by setting and drying and, in either event, finally untwisting to substantially zero twist or beyond. In Fig. 1, the top or welt 12, heel pocket 14, foot 15, toe pocket 16 and leg areas 13g, 13h are knitted from a coloured body yarn. Areas 13a, 13c, 13e are knitted from red yarn and areas 13b, 13d, 13f are knitted from a blue yarn. In Fig. 2, the top 12, heel pocket 14, foot 15 and areas 30, 31, 32 are knitted from a white body yarn, areas 25, 28 are knitted from blue yarn and areas 26, 27 are knitted from red yarn. Specifications 397,046, 417,174 and 660,993, [all in Group IX], are referred to.
