Description

Patented Mar. 15, 1927.
UNITED' STATES PATENT OFFICE,
ALBERT IBOLLER, WETZIKON, SWITZERLAND.
YARN.
Application led May 17, 1926, Serial No. 109,782, and in Switzerland October 17, 1925.
l greater durability than possessed by theknitted fabrics made in the usual manner with ordinary yarns and the fabrics so made will conform closely to the shape of the body. The knitted fabric according to the present invention has the appearance of woven crpe materials and the binding thread imparts to`it a velvet-like lustre, which cannot .be obtained with the crpe twist having a hard twist without the bindl ing thread.
The hard twist yarns used' may be of silk crpe, schappe silk crpe,-artificial silk crpe, wool crpe, cotton crpe and the like, while the loose may consist of the same thIead i material as the hard twist thread or of some other material.
The most suitable articles to be Vmade from the knitted fabric described above are for instance, stockings, dresses, underclothing, gloves and the like.
In the enlarged view shown in the accompanying drawing, l and '2 are the threads which are highly twisted in opposite directions and are made, for instance, of crpe yarn, and 3 is a loosely twisted thread, for 4o instance, of silk, wool, or other suitable material, which is wrapped around the threads 'l and 2 and binds them together.
This combination yam is worked up in the ordinary way on the knitting machine, care being taken for effectively damping the yarn in unwinding from the bobbin, in order that the same shall not become kinked and be drawn off in a stretched condition by the needles of the knitting machine and the tensioning device.
What I claim is 1. A yarn for knitted Afabrics consisting of a hard twist yarn and a loosely twisted thread, said thread being helically wound aionnd said yarn.
2. A yarn for knitted' fabrics consisting of a hard twist crpe yarn and a loosely twisted thread, said threadbeing yhelically wound around said yarn.
3. A yarn for knitted fabrics consisting 'i of two hard twist yarns, said yarnsibeing twisted in opposite directions, and a loosely twisted thread, said thread being helically wound around both of saidyarns. 65
In testimony whereof I `have affixed my signature.
ALERT BoLLER.
