Abstract

775,106. Brushes. XENIS, C. P. May 24, 1954 [June 2, 1953], No. 15238/54. Class 19 [Also in Groups XX and XXVIII] A brush 11, Fig. 1, of circular or rectangular cross-section and forming part of an apparatus (see Group XXVIII) that propels itself through a conduit, comprises a core member 13 of stranded wire, or a flat plate, Fig. 4 (not shown), from which bristles 12 of spring steel wire extend substantially radially. A number of longitudinal grooves may be formed in the brush. In a modification, the bristles 58, Fig. 10, extend from a core member 59 and through openings in a sleeve 60 enclosing the member the latter having an extension acting as the core of a solenoid 62 the energization of which moves the member against the pressure of a spring axially relatively to the sleeve to change the angularity of the bristles relatively to the axis of the member 59.
