Class 56 In a device for cutting spectacle-glasses wherein the spectacle frame 16, Fig. 5, may form the template, the table 32, Fig. 4, to which the glass is clamped during cutting, the follower 47 for the template, and the cutting tool 58 itself are all carried by a frame 35, 43 which is entirely detachable from the table 5, Figs. 1 and 5, to which the template frame is clamped. As shown in Fig. 4, the cutter is adjustably secured to a rod 53 which is depressed against a spring 56, by the operator, into contact with the glass which is clamped between a rubber ring 33 on the table 32 and a rubber ring 37 on a plunger plate 36 which is normally drawn down by a spring 40 to engage the glass but which can be raised for releasing it. The follower 47 also can be raised and lowered in its support 45. The supports for the cutter and follower are carried by the frame pair 43 which is pivoted about the vertical axis 44 to the part 35 carrying the table 32 and the clamping plate 36 and this part 35 is provided with a spindle 30 which is detachably received within, and is coupled at 31, 6 to, the hollow spindle 4, Fig. 1, of the table 5, the spindle 4 passing through the bore 3 of the pedestal 1 and base 2. Adjustable clamps 9, Fig. 5, arranged in slots 8 in the table 5 are provided for 'the frame 16, the top edges of which are backed against an adjustable stop board 21, and the side members 29 of the frame 16 are held out of the way by jib arms 28.
