Abstract
850,452. Cutting shaped holes in plates; machine-tool details. TRUMPF, C. Oct. 21, 1958 [July 24, 1958], No. 33511/58. Classes 83 (3) and 83 (4), In a nibbling-machine having a guide 59 for a workpiece 60 movable in a horizontal plane with respect to a nibbling-, punching- or shearing-tool 18, and means for clamping the work, the feed-movements of the guide, which comprises a cross-slide 43 carried by a longitudinallyslidable saddle 29, are produced by a powerdriven feed-roller 126 carried by the guide, the feed-roller rolling on a negative templet 130 carried on a table 100 below the guide, while a feeler-roller 127 coaxial with the feed-roller 126 rests against a positive templet 129. The saddle 29 is suspended from an upper cantilever arm 15 of the machine, rollers 21 running on guide-rails 19 for longitudinal movement of the work. The saddle may be locked against movement by clamping-jaws 32, 33, Fig. 2 (not shown), when only transverse movement is required. A depending wall 40 of the saddle 29 supports the cross-slide 43 for transverse movement on rollers 47, 48, Fig. 3, the cross-slide being locked against transverse movement as required by a locking-device 51. The work 60 is supported by a pair of claws, each having jaws 67, 68 mounted on a pivot-pin 66 located in a stop-member 59 secured to the cross-slide 43. The table 100 carrying templets 129, 130 clamped in position by holders 132 is mounted on a carriage 101 for movement on the lower arm 11 of the machine, rollers 102 rolling on guide-rails 103 in a manner similar to the saddle 29. The carriage 101 may likewise be looked by a locking-device. A slide-base 105 clamped to the cross-slide 43 carries an automatic-feed device which displaces the saddle 29 and slide 43 during copying from the templets, a carriage 107, Fig. 6, movable up and down on the slidebase 105 by a crank-plate 110 having affixed to it a gear-box housing 115 for an electric motor 116. The motor drives a vertical shaft 120 to which is attached the feed-rollers 126, 127, having a diameter equal to that of the tool 18. The feed-roller 126 comprises four wedge-shaped sectors 126<1>-126<4>, Fig. 7, with coupling-projections 143 located in grooves in spreadercones 140, 141, the spreader-cones being pressed together by an adjustable spring-clamp 124 so that the sectors are urged radially-outward against an elastic ring 148, e.g. of rubber, which urges the sectors radially inward. Variations in the horizontal gap between the templets 129, 130 are thus automatically taken up by the change in diameter of the feed-roller 126. In the example of Fig. 6, the ring 148 also provides a friction-surface for the drive, while in a modification, Fig. 11 (not shown), two elastic rings are provided with a milled or grooved friction-surface between. The action of the feed-roller 126 on the templets 129, 130 thus feeds the work 60 relative to the cylindrical nibbling-, punching- or shearing-tool 18 driven by a motor 16 and arranged over a matrix 13 in a matrix-holder 12.
