773,578. Jointing by tube expanding; axial rolling. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. July 2, 1954 [July 3, 1953], No. 18487/53. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XXVIII] A tube is fixed in a bore in a plate by rolling circular grooves in the bore and then expanding the tube therein. Grooves 6 are rolled in a bore 5 in the plate by an expanding roller tool comprising serrated rollers 3 journalled in a rotated carrier 2 and expanded by a tapering mandrel 1. The tube is then expanded in the bore by a similar tool having plain, instead of serrated, rollers.
