In a selsyn system for operating repeater instruments from a shaft positioned by a servomotor to follow the indications of a primary instrument, e.g. a gyro-magnetic compass, the " coarse " transmission of the usual " coarse " and " fine " transmissions is dispensed with, thereby rendering the system poly-periodic. To prevent " locking-in " of the selsyn receiver at an incorrect position, the selsyn transmitter and receiver are connected permanently in circuit with one another and the transmitter is always energized when the servomotor is operative. Preferably, the rotors of the selsyn receiver and the servomotor are automatically locked when they are de-energized.
