564,840. Gyroscopic apparatus. MILES AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and PETER, C. R. Feb. 10, 1943, No. 2259. [Class 97 (iii)] A visually-reading gyroscopically-controlled instrument is provided with means automatically operable by the gyroscope caging mechanism for obscuring the dial or face of the instrument when the gyroscope unit is caged. As shown, the caging knob 12, which may also control the change-over of an automatic pilot from automatic to manual control, operates (by means of a pin and slot 10, 9) an arcuate masking plate 1 to move it to a position obscuring or revealing the dial 2 of the gyroscopic unit.
