Abstract
773,136. Statistical apparatus; counting apparatus. ADREMA-WERKE GES. Oct. 21, 1955 [Oct. 21, 1954], No. 30142/55. Class 106 (1). Values represented by embossed ribs 8 on carriers, e.g. address plates 3, are added as the plates travel along a guide track by a counting mechanism 4 having toothed wheels 6, Fig. 3, adapted to engage directly with the ribs on the plates and to be turned thereby. The ribs are arranged in rows, the number of ribs in each row corresponding to the digital value in each denomination. Rows of ribs representing values in different decimal orders are positioned on different spaced lines parallel to the direction of movement of the plate for co-operation with spaced toothed wheels of the counting mechanism. Rows in different decimal lines are staggered so as not to overlap. This allows the carry mechanism to work freely before counting on the next higher denomination begins. The values recorded may be altered by flattening the ribs or embossing further ribs. The addition of the values is shown on counter wheels 5.
