[Class 106 (i)] A totalizing counter for a calculating-machine has its lowest denomination arranged to operate in the nonary notation while the other denominations operate in the decimal notation so that the sum of a plurality of decimal fractions with a single recurring digit can be accurately obtained. The counter is of use in adding together the quotients of numbers divided by 12 as in converting pence into shillings by the means described in Specification 454,248, or in adding together the numbers obtained in dividing a number by 9 which consists in multiplying the number by 1 as described in Specification 454,249.
