772,687. Regenerators for coke ovens &c. DIDIER - KOGAG - HINSELMANN GES. Jan. 27, 1955 [March 15, 1954], No. 2424/55. Class 64(1) In a regenerative coke or other oven heated by burning rich gas or lean gas alternatively, the same pipe 13 is used to supply air (from a flap valve 17) or lean gas (from a valve 16) when lean gas is being burnt, and air when rich gas is being burnt, to a housing 10 leading to horizontal passages 1, 2, 3, 4 connected to the regenerator cells, means being provided between the housing 10 and the passages 1-4 to adjust the flow into the latter. This means comprises a slide 9 having two compartments for each passage, one closed by a deep .plate and the other containing a shallower plate the depth of which controls the size of aperture for air or gas. The housing 10 contains an exhaust gas valve' 11. At reversal, the lean gas and air are cut-off simultaneously on one side of the' oven, and after other steps the lean gas and air are turned on simultaneously on the other.
