Abstract
772,543. Pit props. GULLICK, Ltd., and SEAMAN, T. April 13, 1955 [June 26. 1954]. No. 18806/54. Class 20(2) A hydraulic pit prop 12 has a pressure fluid inlet 11 in a foot piece 10 on which the prop is so mounted that it can tilt or move to some extent. A roof-supporting structure preferably comprises two or more props 12 connected together by rigid pipes 9 for the supply of pressure fluid. The base 13 of the prop body 12 has a duct 14 communicating with the inlet 11 through a hole 17 in a sealing gasket 16 interposed between the concave underface of the base and the convex upper face of the foot piece. The base 13 and foot piece 10 are secured together by a clamping ring 18, and the whole of the prop part is enclosed in a casing 23 welded to a sledge 24.
