772,152. Typewriters. BURROUGHS CORPORATION. March 2, 1955 [April 21, 1954], No. 6188/55. Class 100(4) A paper roll rewinding means for a typewriter or like printing business machine having an intermittently movable paper carriage, comprises a roll R rotated by a unidirectional drive actuated by. weighted member 3369 as it oscillates due to movement of the carriage. The roll R is supported in transv.ersely adjustable moulded mountings 3330 and consists of four rods 3347, to one of which the paper 3301 (and if required a carbon web 3303) is attached. These rods 3347 are mounted on discs 3348 and hubs 3349 attached to a shaft 334 by and adjustable paper edge guides 3350 are slidable on the shaft 3346 which extends beyond the rightward hub 3349 and freely supports a ratchet wheel 3355 which is pressed into frictional driving engagement with the end of the hub 3349 by a spring 3356 adjustably set bv a collar 3357. The ratchet wheel 3355 is unidirectionally driven by a pawl 3358 oscillated by the swinging movements of the weight 3369. A supply roll 3302 is detachably mounted in V-plates 3306, accessible through a hinged carriage cover 3310 which is held in open or closed position by a spring and cam mechanism 3316-3319.
