Abstract

771,481. Automatic exchange systems. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Feb. 4, 1955 [March 11, 1954], No. 7064/54. Addition to 765,928. Class 40 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] In a modification of the two-position circuit device described in the parent Specification, a positive control potential from the cathode of a conducting tube VK3, Fig. 1, is applied to the cathode of VK1 and the trigger electrode of VK2. A negative test pulse on lead 10 strikes VK2 if the control potential is present and otherwise strikes VK1. When VK1 strikes the initial surge of current into condensers C3, C4 causes a negative pulse to be transmitted over lead 11. As in the Specification referred to, a number of two-position devices may be connected in a chain to form a hunting circuit associated with a translator. Each twoposition device corresponds to a register and tube VK3 strikes when the register needs the translator. When the translator is free a negative pulse is applied to lead 10. In the associated register is not marked, tube VK1 strikes and repeats the negative pulse over lead 11 to the incoming lead 10 of the next twoposition device. Condensers C1 and C3, C2 and C5 of one stage feed the tube VK1 of the preceding stage at the beginning of a pulse and render the tube self-extinguishing. If tube VK2 strikes, indicating that a marked register has been formed, a positive signal is transmitted over lead 12. In another modification, Fig. 2, the current surge in tube VK1 is limited by resistors R4, R5 and by a condenser C6 and a resistor R4 in the next stage.
