Abstract
568,400. Telemetering systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and CHAMBERS, C. H. Sept. 28, 1943, No. 15893. [Class 40 (i)] In a telemetering system in which a follow-up member 2, 3 straddles the pointer 1, contact between the two members varies the charge on a large-capacity condenser C1 which controls the grid potential of a thermionic valve V1 and the anode current of the latter flows in series through a milliammeter M1 actuating the follow-up member and a distant milliammeter M2. A recording instrument M3 may also be included in the circuit. The condenser C1 is connected between the grid and the junction point of two resistances R4, R5 which are connected between the cathode and the negative terminal of the supply, and alternative circuits for charging the condenser in opposite directions are made through adjustable high resistances R1, R2 when the pointer 1 engages the arms 2, 3 of the follow-up member. Instead of the members making contact, an optical method may be employed for detecting the relative positions of the pointer and follow-up member.
