[Also in Group X] In a multi-floor garage the cars are stored inside a circular fireproof wall 39 on at least some of the floors, the other floors comprising living quarters or workshops, so that the occupants can take refuge inside the fireproof walls by staircases 43 &c. The cars are driven in through an entrance 15 on the reception floor 17 and on to one or other of turntables 18, 19, 20 at 120 degrees from which they are driven on to one of three elevators 21 and after elevation to the desired floor they are driven across a bridge sector 38 to appropriate channel rail tracks 33, 34 fixed on a rotor 32 located inside the circular wall 39. To discharge a particular car the rotor 32 is power rotated to bring the car opposite an elevator which then receives and lowers the car to the ground floor from which it is driven off through an exit 16. The rotor 32, Fig. 4, comprises an annulus carrying flanged wheels 58 running on circular floor rails 51 and is provided with doors on its inside to isolate it from the doors in the elevator shafts. Metallic gratings fill up the floor space between the elevator doors and the rotor doors. Operating mechanism may be located in a penthouse on the roof.
