Abstract

771,229. Transistor circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 3, 1955 [Nov. 6, 1954], No. 31476/55. Class 40(6) [Also in Group XVIII] In a mechanical oscillator, Fig. 1, comprising a shaft 3, a spring 2 and a permanent magnet 1, the permanent magnet induces voltage pulses in a coil 7 which supplies driving force pulses from an amplifier 8 back to the system to maintain the oscillation. The amplifier is rendered non-operative during the intervals between the voltage pulses and is connected to present across the coil an impedance having a negative resistance component. In one embodiment. Fig. 3, the amplifier includes a transistor 10 with the coil 7 connected between the emitter and base, the transistor being back coupled by a collector-base feedback transformer 11 so that the transistor produces a pulsatory collector current when a transient voltage pulse of the appropriate polarity occurs across the coil 7. In other embodiments, Figs. 6 and 7, the coil 7 is included in known oscillatory circuits so that an average collector-current pulse is obtained. A coil 17 may be provided for driving time indicating means. Valve amplifiers, crystal rectifiers or other suitable impedances may be used instead of a transistor. The permanent magnet may be fixed with the coil performing the oscillating movement.
