957,894. Magnetostrictive vibrators. COMPAGNIE ELECTRO-MECANIQUE. Jan. 4, 1961 [Jan. 12, 1960], No. 348/61. Heading H4J. The power supply of a magnetostrictive vibrator 2 includes a parallel connection of a condenser 5 and a rectifier 4. The direct current component of the driving current is used for bias. A coil 3 has an inductance between a fifth and a tenth of the inductance of the vibrator winding. The condenser 5 is chosen to time the coil 3 to about <SP>3</SP>/ 2 of the supply frequency. Two or more vibrators may be driven either in series or in parallel.
