Abstract
770,844. Ironing boards. HOOGESTEIJN, O. June 17, 1955 [June 18, 1954], No. 17561/55. Class 138 (2). An ironing board comprises at least two parts 9, 10, adjacent parts being separated from each other along a line extending in the longitudinal direction of the board, one of the parts being supported by a supporting member 3 and the other part, or each other part, being capable of being swung away from the working surface, being hingeable about an edge extending transversely of the board, and being located at the narrow end of the ironing board. When the part 10 is swung downwardly to the position seen in Fig. 2 (not shown), the part 9 may be used as a sleeve board. The part 10 is supported in its raised position by a slidable bar 11 and may be pulled tightly against the part 9 by means of a rotatable arm 12 and a wedgeshaped abutment 13 in order to avoid chinks between the parts 9, 10. The supporting member 3 comprises a leg of adjustable length. The wider end of the ironing board is adapted to be secured to a table 1 or like support by means of clamp screws 7, 8. In a modification (not shown), the ironing board is provided with two hinged portions one on each side of the stationary portion.
