770,413. Pipe bends. BIEGEL GES., O. Nov. 30, 1953 [Dec. 2, 1952], No. 33244/53. Class 99(1) The outer part of a pipe bend for hydraulic and pneumatic conveyer pipe lines is provided with a wear-resistant member 5 having a straight reflecting portion l merging at each end into arcuate portions 1 which merge into the pipes connected to the elbow, the portions 1 having a radius equal to the diameter d of the pipe line and the portion l having a length equal to the diameter d divided by the sine of half the deflection angle oc. A groove 3 may be formed in the member 5 at the point of maximum wear and filled with a softer material e.g. concrete. The ends of the pipe bend may carry sockets 6 for .the connection of the pipes, the interior surface of the sockets forming a continuation of the interior surface of themember 5.
