Abstract

769,460. Mineral-coated paper. WARREN CO., S. D. Oct. 22, 1954 [Oct. 22, 1953], No. 30475/54. Class 96. Separation of cast-surface, mineral-coated paper from the casting surface is facilitated by the addition of an aqueous solution or dispersion of a resinous substance &c. to the surface of the coating as by spraying, or inclusion in liquid adjacent the nip between the coated paper and the casting surface, such liquid re-wetting and re-plasticizing the coated surface. The resinous solution may contain ammonia or caustic soda &c., and the resin may be rosin, shellac, Manila copal, or a synthetic resin, e.g. an adduct of maleic anhydride and pentaerythritol ester of rosin. It may be used in concentrations of 0.25 to 25 per cent; and 0.01 to several pounds thereof per 1000 square feet may be supplied.
