Abstract
The invention comprises halogenated urea derivatives of the formula <FORM:0769273/IV(b)/1> in which X1 and X11 are chlorine or bromine atoms and R is a mono- or polyhalogenated aromatic or unsaturated aromatic hydrocarbon group, obtainable by the reaction between the corresponding dihalogenated aniline and an isocyanate of R, defined as above, or by the reaction between a dihalogenated isocyanate and the amine RNH2; also compositions of the above products with a major proportion of a detergent soap. In examples, the 4 : 31 : 41-trichlorcarbanilide, and the corresponding 4-chloro-31 : 41-dibromo-, 2 : 31 : 41 - trichloro, 3 : 31 : 41 - trichloro -, 3 : 31 - dichloro - 41-bromo-, 3 : 4 : 31 : 41 - tetrachloro-, 3 : 4 : 5 : 31 : 41-pentachloro, and other similar products are produced by reaction between the suitably halogenated isocyanate and aniline. Compounds of the formula <FORM:0769273/IV(b)/2> in which the group R11 is a monochlorinated monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon group free from ortho substituents are particularly useful in soap compositions. Other groups specified for R include chloromethylphenyl-, other chloroalkylphenyl-, substituted diphenylyl-, chloroindenyls and chloronaphthyls, containing not more than 3 halogens preferably and preferably having 2- and 6-positions unsubstituted.ALSO:Antiseptic soap compositions contain a minor proportion of a halogenated carbonilide of the formula: <FORM:0769273/III/1> in which X1 and X11 are chlorine or bromine atoms and R is a mono- or polyhalogenated aromatic or unsaturated aromatic group (see Group IV(b)). Colours, antioxidants, perfumes, water-softeners and emollients may be added, and the compositions may be used as shampoos, shaving-creams, hand-lotions and face-creams.
