1282653 Diagnostic compositions R A ELFAST JNR 31 March 1970 [14 April 1969] 15304/70 Heading B1X A diagnostic composition for nitrite comprises (1) a compound selected from sulphanilic acid (A) and sulphanilamide (C) and (2) a compound selected from α-naphthylamine hydrochloride (B) and N-(1-naphthyl ethylene diamine dihydrochloride (D), the proportions by weight of A:B or C:B being at least 250:1, or the proportions by weight of C:D or A:D being at least 150:1. The composition may also contain sodium chloride and a further crystalline water-free acid such as citric or tartaric acid.
