Abstract

769,253. Feeding sheets. BOBST & FILS SOC, ANON., J. April 4, 1955 [April 5, 1954], No. 9806/55. Class 100(1) In apparatus for feeding sheets comprising a number of gripper-bars 3<SP>1</SP> secured to two endless chains 3 passing over pairs of toothed wheels 4, each sheet 10 is fed in the direction of the arrow 16 over a table and registered beneath a pair of wheels 4 by known apparatus, and the front edge of the sheet is guided and prevented from rising, prior to being gripped on the bar 3<SP>1</SP> by fingers 11, by a series of guide blades 14 secured to a transverse beam 13 which connects the two wheels 4 together. The gripper bar has notches 9 in its trailing edge to accommodate oscillating front registration stops. A number of spaced-apart resilient gripper fingers 11 are secured to the bar by screws 12, and are opened by known means. The guide blades 14 are of sheet-metal and resilient, are spaced apart so as not to impede the opening of the fingers 11, and each can be adjusted by a screw 15. Radial rods, secured to the shaft on which the two wheels 4 are secured, extend through the beam 13, and their outer ends are adapted to bear against the gripper bar 3<SP>1</SP> to support it against bending during the time that the known elements operate to open the gripper fingers 11.
