491,161. Paper - folding machines. COLDITZ, L. Feb. 27, 1937, No. 5981. Convention date, March 23, 1936. [Class 100 (i)] In a buckle folding-machine the cross-feed table following a group of folders 12 incorporates one set of sheet-engaging devices for effecting the movement of the sheets in the transverse direction and another set for urging the sheets in the direction in which they emerge from the folders, the latter set being driven independently and being adjustable to vary the degree of contact thereof with the sheets. The sheets emerging from the folders 12 drop on to the cross-feed table C comprising a series of rollers 17 with axes parallel to the original direction of movement of the sheets and are conveyed by them into another group of folders for imparting perpendicular folds. A registering guide 18 is provided, and the sheets are urged into contact therewith by parts of endless bands 19, the contacting parts being adjustable by means of jockey-rollers 22 carried by levers 23 pivoted on the guide 18 and moved by means of setscrews 26. The bands 19 extend between the rollers 17 and pass around a roller 29 which is driven at an adjustable speed. The bands 19 may be replaced by rotary brushes or rollers.
