Abstract

768,696. Textile spindle attachments. LASTEX YARN & LACTRON THREAD, Ltd. April 25, 1955 [May 4, 1954], No. 12877/54. Class 120 (2). A device for supporting a package on a textile spindle comprises a base portion 1 adapted to be detachably connected to the spindle, a stem portion 3 projecting perpendicularly from the base portion, and a cylindrical shroud 2 arranged to surround the exterior of a package mounted on the stem portion, the stem portion and the shroud being arranged in co-axial relationship. The stem portion may be in two halves connected by dogs 3A and the top half may be reduced in external diameter and provided with a barrel shaped spring clip for retaining a yarn package thereon. A shallow recess 5 is formed in the bottom surface of the base portion 1 and has two rectangular channel portions 6 extending outwardly therefrom to provide a driving connection with the spindle. The bore 4 of the stem portion 3 may be slightly tapered, the smallest diameter at the top being a close fit on the spindle and the larger diameter being such that there is sufficient clearance between the bore and the spindle to enable the stem portion to centralize itself on the spindle. In a second embodiment the bore of the stem part 3 is hollowed out and provided with two bearing portions, one at the top of the stem and the other at the bottom of the stem.
