Class 81(2) An envelope for a pad is made by folding a length of material on itself and stitching the side edges, one or more tapes passing into the envelope at opposite sides and being fixed inside one wall of the envelope. Tapes 3 are sewn across the length of a piece of rubberized fabric by rows of stitches 4 extending completely along the median part of a tape, along the edge of the fabric to the next tape and so on, each tape 3 having a free part extending from both sides of the fabric. The free ends of the tapes are folded beneath the fabric and are then enclosed by folding the fabric along a transverse line to form an envelope with a flap lb. The side edges of the envelope are stitched up and the envelope is completed by turning inside out so that the free ends of the tapes 3 extend freely from the sides. Punched holes 7 may be made in the fabric. The envelope may contain heat generating pads for applying local heat to the body.
