Abstract

Cosmetic preparations, for application to the skin, comprise pregnenolone and/or an ether and/or an ester thereof, and a suitable base substance having an oily, fatty or waxy consistency. The preparation may contain nicotinic acid amides and/or an ether or ester of benzyl alcohol e.g. dibenzyl ether, and the esters of lauric, oleic, cinnamic, benzoic and a - naphthoic acids. Examples of suitable base materials are petroleum jelly, triglycerides e.g. hog fat, cocoa butter, almond oil, saturated or unsaturated higher fatty acids e.g. myristic, undecylenic, stearic and oleic acid or esters thereof, Peru balsam, chlorophyll, triethanolamine, cholesterin or para-oxybenzoic acid methyl ester, glycerine lanoline, beeswax and spermaceti wax, sesame oil, magnesium sulphate and borax.
