Abstract

Powdered or granular metal is produced without surface oxidation by forming a melt of the metal, adding boron to the melt, disintegrating it and solidifying the resultant metal in the powdered or granulated condition. Ferro-boron metal borides, or chemical compounds of boron e.g. borax may be used to introduce the boron in the melt or amorphous boron may be added.
