Abstract
<PICT:0767411/IV(a)/1> A spinnet comprises groups of orifices, the orifices within any group being substantially equispaced and all the orifices being interconnected on the inner face of the spinneret by shallow channels which permit the molten synthetic linear polymer for which the spinneret is particularly designed to be distributed uniformly to all the orifices. The outermost orifices of the spinneret face lie on the circumference of a circle whose centre is at the midpoint of the spinneret, and the distance between any orifice of a group, which is adjacent to a common boundary with another group, and the nearest corresponding orifice of the other group must never be greater than three times the distance between neighbouring orifices within a group. As shown, there are eight semicircular groups of orifices separated by the diametral line Y and located on the four concentric circles C1, C2, C3, C4. The distance between orifices O1 and O2, across the diametral line Y, must not be more than three times the distance between O2 and O3, neighbouring orifices within a group.
