Abstract

<PICT:0765878/III/1> A paint roller comprises a highly resilient core member 8, e.g. sponge rubber, having secured thereto a covering 9 of pile or fibrous material, e.g. sheepskin. The roller comprises a wood sleeve 1 mounted on a spindle 4, the rubber 8 being bonded to the sleeve 1 e.g. in a mould during the formation by heating of the sponge rubber. The sheep-skin 9 is wrapped round the sponge rubber 8 and secured by adhesive. The diameter of the sleeve 1, which may alternatively be metal or plastic, does not substantially exceed the thickness of the rubber 8.
