The brush material of a rotary polishing brush is constituted at least in part by paper string fibres 4. The fibres 4 are formed by twisting one or more strips of suitable paper which are then impregnated with a drying adhesive, such as an aqueous glue solution, which constitutes a controllable stiffening agent for the fibres.
