[Also in Group XXVI] A two stroke internal combustion engine comprises a rotary intake valve d arranged so that the charge enters the crankcase a through a circular port h of one crankweb f which is slotted at i to receive a spring-loaded radially-slidable valve l, the valve being moved by centrifugal force at a predetermined engine speed to restrict the intake through the port h. The rotary valve d is held in contact with the crankcase by springs and is provided with a lip e forming a gas-tight space with the web f. The valve l is mounted in radial guides in a plate k inserted in the slot i and is loaded by a pair of helical springs (not shown).
