Abstract
764,505. Testing porosity of filter materials. C.A.V., Ltd. Aug. 23, 1955 [Sept. 22,1954], No. 27376/54. Class 106 (2). Paper or other filters are tested by blowing through the filter a quantity of air laden with a dust, e.g. lycopodium, of such size as would be intercepted by a non-defective filter. The dust is supplied from a hopper i in predetermined quantity by a measuring tap g and blown through the filter a by an air stream from a pipe o, the filter being housed in a chamber d and the effluent air passing to a collecting chamber s comprising a baffle u, Fig. 3, through which the dust-laden air can pass, and a cover w adapted to intercept the dust which may be visually inspected to give an indication of the condition of the filter.
