Abstract

A fluid filter medium comprises a felt or mat of irregularly packed fibres having an average diameter not exceeding 0.001 mm. The mat, which is formed by spraying molten thermo-plastic material, e.g. polystyrol, under high pressure over a suitable collecting means, may afterward be compressed mechanically. The fibres may have knots and flat spiral and irregular sections at different points along their lengths.
